Fire Safety Schedules – A picture tells a 1000 words.
A Fire Safety Schedule (FSS) is the cornerstone of the fire safety maintenance and certification lifecycle of a building.
Having a correct FSS ensures:
➡️ Fire safety measures are correctly maintained.
➡️ Enables a correct AFSS to be prepared and submitted as required; and
➡️Minimises the possibility of expensive and unnecessary upgrades to the fire safety measures in a building.
All too often, Credwell are confronted with a FSS which nominates:
➡️Fire hydrants nominated to the BCA and AS 2419.1 when the hydrants are located outside the fire stairs;
➡️ Portable fire extinguishers nominated to BCA and AS 2444, when the old triangle signs are installed.
Both of these are an indication that the FSS for the building may be incorrect.
An incorrect FSS can:
➡️ delay the submission of the Annual Fire Safety Statement;
➡️ expose a building owner to potentially expensive and unnecessary upgrades to the fire safety measures; and
➡️ may result in under or over servicing of the fire safety measures.
